  1. Approval November 17, 2021 Minutes (3 minutes) ACTION

 Informational Items/Updates:

  1. Screening/Hiring Committees – Faculty representation process UPDATE

Slow process – Has cost the college prospective employees. DEI – Screening committee make-up should reflect diversity of employee groups and student population.  [Focus of: CCCCO Goal – Call to Action and Vison for Success: DEI; College Goal – DEI; Senate Goal – DEI and Anti-racism]

Resources: Model Hiring Principles and Procedures; Academic Senate Paper: A Re-examination of Faculty Hiring Processes and Procedures (2018)

  1. AB 928 UPDATE

Intersegmental Committee of Academic Senates (ICSA) agree on single GE pattern established on or before May 2023 or administrative bodies will stabile by Dec 31, 2023. ASCCC requests input from faculty. Form located at https://asccc.org/content/submit-input-ab-928

Old Business: Assignment of Responsibility for Development and/or Recommendation to Senate of the Whole for Action

  1. Process for Documentation and Revision of Disciplines and Minimum Qualifications DISCUSSION

Issues: There is no documented list of local modifications to minimum qualifications in use at Taft College, particularly in CTE areas.

Associated issue:  Impacts FSA determinations, consistency in verification of qualification for assignment to courses (CTE); consistency in application of locally determined minimum qualification for hiring and/or course assignment; documentation of dates including date when modification was adopted, frequency of review for revision.

No documented process for review and vetting of proposed local modification/definitions to minimum qualifications (discipline list).

Associated issue: Consistency in process; public hearing on locally determined additions/modifications to minimum qualifications, particularly in CTE disciplines.

New Business: Assignment of Responsibility for Development and/or Recommendation to Senate of the Whole

  1. Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Steering Committee (SLOASC) Charter ACTION

Forward to Academic Senate of the Whole with recommendation to approve.
