Student Clubs and Organizations

Taft College’s Student Life Program engages students in extracurricular activities that enrich their intellectual, ethical, and social development. It offers a variety of arenas where you can practice student self-governance, learn respect for diverse groups, learn civic responsibility, and develop life skills to carry on beyond college. Through student activities, student equity, and work-study, you are encouraged to grow as a leader and to improve on or develop your ability to provide direction, lead courageously, foster teamwork, motivate others, build relationships, coach your peers, and act with integrity.

  • Associated Student Organization (ASO)

    The ASO is the official governing organization of students enrolled at Taft College. Learn about ASO benefits, including access to the Student Center gaming area, book rental, participation in ASO events, and discounts on field trips and at favorite places in town.

    Best Buddies seeks to establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs).

  • InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Taft College

    The InterVarsity Club establishes and advances at Taft College witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord: growing in love for God, God’s Word, God’s people of every ethnicity and culture and God’s purposes in the world.

    The Taft College Literary Magazine provides literary publication editorial and production experience to students of Taft College, assists the community of Taft in networking with writers globally, and promote imaginative literature in Kern County.

    NSLS creates a support system within Taft College where students help each other to move forward in their education and life. Members will work alongside peers to help guide each other toward reaching short term goals.

    The RPG Club promotes campus-wide student interest in role-playing games. It supports academic student success by enhancing critical thinking, writing, storytelling, logistical planning, and basic mathematical skills through active participation in club activities.

    SPECTRUM gives Taft College students a sense of inclusiveness and provides LGBTQIA+ students a safe environment.
