We have a great team of Taft College Student Tutors on campus to get you back on track. They are dedicated to assisting students get through difficult material – from understanding “big concepts” to developing the learning strategies needed to help you retain information and solve problems on your own. Keeping up with your coursework is essential to stay engaged.

James Esparza

I am a Business Administration major in my last year at Taft College. I have been working at the Learning Center for two semesters. I enjoy gaming and soccer.

Jazmyn Chavira

This is my second year at Taft College and my third semester tutoring. I currently tutor Academic Writing; English 1600; History 2231 and 2232; and Math 1500 and 1505. My major is History with hopes to transfer and earn both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in History. I love anything that has to do with being outdoors. I also love my dog, Jackson.

Emily LeDuc

I tutor both Math and English. My major is Biology, with a minor in Sociology. I hope to transfer to a CSU or UC and study pre-med. I graduated from TUHS with honors. In my free time, I enjoy painting and drawing.

Heidy Valenzuela

My name is Heidy Valenzuela, and I am a Psychology 2200 tutor at the Taft College Learning Center. I was born and raised in Cuyama and am bilingual. I recently graduated from Taft High.

Gabriel Madrigal

My name is Gabriel Madrigal, but you can call me Gabe. I work in the Math Lab on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. I tutor for those needing help in Psychology 2200. I hope to transfer to a CSU or UC and become a therapist in the future.

Chloe Dodson

This is my fourth semester at Taft College and my first semester tutoring. My major is Mechanical Engineering, and I am hoping to transfer to a UC or CSU next fall. I tutor Calculus 1-3, Physics 1, and Intro to Chemistry. During my free time, I enjoy baking cookies and reading.

Victoria Dorazco

My name is Victoria Dorazco, and I am from Bakersfield. This is my first semester as a tutor for English 1500, but it's my second semester at Taft College. I am majoring in Liberal Arts with an Area of Emphasis: Allied Health and plan to apply to the Dental Hygiene Program here at Taft College. In my free time, I enjoy baking and going out with friends.

Samuel Ruth

My name is Samuel Ruth. I am a second-year student at Taft College and am tutoring this semester for the first time. Although pre-med is currently my ambition at the undergraduate level, I enjoy math and am always excited to learn more on the subject. Long term, I’d like to study neuroscience, and enter either a research field or become a physician.

Jaylyn Isbell

I am Jaylyn Isbell, and I am currently majoring in Human Biology. I am available to tutor in Microbiology, Intro to Organic Chemistry, Anatomy, and Physiology. All of these courses are incredibly interesting to me. In my free time, I like to play video games and spend time with my family.

Carlos Garcia

My name is Carlos Garcia.  I am majoring in Biology and hope to transfer to a UC in 2024, followed by medical school.  I tutor Chemistry 1510, 2211, and 2212; English; and Spanish.

Roxy Jarrahian

Hello, I’m Roxy, and I am a tutor for both Chemistry and Statistics. I often help students with a variety of other subjects when needed! I plan on pursuing my studies at the university level in the field of technology.
