Brief Overview of Accreditation Site Visit
April 18th Brandy gave an overview of the Accreditation site visit that took place
on April 18th. The site visit was the follow up action taken after the 18 month extension
to meet the recommendations received after the 2015 Self Evaluation. The visiting
team met with six individuals: Eric Bérubé, Geoffrey Dyer, Dan Hall, the Distance
Education support team (Nicole Avina), Vicki Jacobi and Deb Daniels. The team will
submit a report to Deb within a few weeks. The report will contain their recommendation
to the ACCJC as well as input on their findings. Taft College should hear from the
ACCJC and find out the status of our accreditation around the second week of June.
May Inservice Professional Development Activity Vicki will conduct a four hour professional
development session during May inservice. The focus will be on SLO Data and Authentic
Assessment. The idea is to continue to bring faculty together for discussion to ensure
everyone is on the same level. Some of the shared outcomes for inservice would be:
* Faculty would be better prepared and have a better understanding of authentic assessment
* Definitions are more clear
* Provide discussion time among peers
* Sharing of assignments to be assessed
* Set up assessments in eLumen
Critical Thinking ISLO
Fall Inservice This agenda item was discussed briefly. The assessment of ISLOs is
on a four year cycle. Next year the focus will be on Critical Thinking. SLO Day during
fall inservice will have sessions on this. The SLO/ASC members will take this information
back to their disciplines and start discussing what types of assignments may be used.
The discussion is also taking place in the Academic Senate. This discussion will continue
at the May SLO/ASC meeting.
Next Meeting: May 19, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Café Conference Room
