Minutes for January 12, 2022

Welcome & Introductions
President Payne welcomed faculty.

Approval of Minutes
A motion to approve the corrected minutes was made by D. Mitchell with a 2nd from S.
Eveland. Abstentions from M. Oja, J. Altenhofel, J. Reynolds, M. Rossi. The motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report
D. Mitchell reported an overall balance of $16,219.96 before lunch.

Taft College Faculty Collective Bargaining Committee (TCFCBC) Update
President Payne reported that no agenda topics were presented for the in-service meeting. The
floor was opened for faculty to propose topics. The following is a summary of topics:
• Update to bereavement language in contract, since typical scheduling of services
falls outside of set timeframe
• Increase to Division Chair release time. Faculty cited new responsibilities
including maintenance of adjunct database and disproportionate workloads based
on the number of programs contained within each division.
• Committee assignment requirements/distribution of faculty members.
• Clarification of load/overload status of non-teaching faculty.
• Increase of SLO Coordinator release since expansion to include Program SLO.
Examples include counseling, admission, distance education.

Other
President Payne encouraged faculty review their December paystub accuracy.

President Payne reminded faculty that flexible spending accounts are reloaded to the
designated contribution.

President Payne reminded faculty to review the latest COVID temporary transition to
online learning email from D. Daniels. Faculty will communicate safest modality to VPI.
