- Amar is working on getting a representative from the Facilities Committee.
- The committee will review the charter annually.
- ORDERING ACCESSIBLE TEXTBOOKS
- Amar suggested creating a procedure or process for faculty to ordering textbooks and automatically ordering accessible textbooks.
- This process needs to be developed with the VP in charge.
- Vicki suggested a professional development training for faculty in how to order textbooks and making sure they have accessible textbook versions as well.
- The VP of Instruction should be reviewing the textbook selections by faculty before approving the purchases.
- The District has the responsibility to document the process to show efforts of being ADA compliant in this area and all areas.
- It was stated OERs (open ed. resources) are accessible in electronic format (PDFs).
- ACCESSIBLE SOFTWARE DEMONSTRATION
- • Jason will provide a demonstration of the Monsido services at the April 27th meeting.
- Jason briefly demonstrated the evaluation tool the Chancellor’s Office has for checking websites for accessibility.
- The tool scans the website and provides directions to areas with errors and warnings.
- This tool is basic and only handles easier to spot areas where attention may be needed to provide or improve accessibility.
- Jason stated he would be assisting WESTEC with the website for accessibility issues. It has not been updated since 1997.
- It was also noted that the faculty websites need to be accessible and uniform with the District’s website. Jason stated the faculty websites were not a part of the TC website revamp and were left alone. This was a PIC and Darcy, VP at the time, decision.
