Lori Travis
Dr. Lori Travis is an Associate Professor of Communication Studies at Taft College. She graduated from Pepperdine University with a Doctorate in Education, earned her Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from California State University, Northridge, and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from California State University, Bakersfield.
While in the B.A. program, she received the Governor’s Cup Invitational Tournament award for prose speech in the oral interpretation category and Steve Collins Invitational Forensics Tournament awards for communication analysis speeches.
After receiving her Doctorate, The American Educational Research Association awarded Dr. Travis second place in the Division H Outstanding Publications Division Competition for her dissertation: An Exploratory Study of the Role of the Parent Ombudsperson in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Dr. Travis has presented research papers on the portrayal of the elderly on prime-time television and the role of the parent ombudsperson in the elementary educational school system.
