Jennifer Altenhofel


Dr. Altenhofel is Professor of History, Cultural Geography, and Sociology at Taft College. She began working at Taft College in 1996 and was named a full-time Professor in 2012.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History at California State University, Bakersfield in 1991, and her Master’s Degree in History at California State University, Bakersfield in 1992. She was awarded her Ph.D. in American History from The American University in 2004. Dr. Altenhofel says she loves teaching at Taft College, especially the small classes and the community built with students, staff, and faculty. She also says she loves it when students ask questions, and “we start digging into why things happened the way they did. That is the most fun because I learn from students.”
