Independent & Out-of-State Colleges

California has over 70 independent colleges and universities throughout the state.  Independent colleges and universities are a great option for students that are looking outside of the UC and CSU systems.  Click on the following link to get more information about California Independent Colleges and Universities.

Out-of-State colleges provide students with additional options to consider when deciding on their destination school for transfer.  With campuses across the United States, students have a large variety of campuses and regions to choose from.  Click on the following to get a list and link to all the Out-Of-State-Colleges in the United States.

Be sure to check to see if your Out-of-State college participates in Western Exchange Program:

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)

  • Students who are residents of WICHE states are eligible to request a reduced tuition rate of 150% of resident tuition at participating two- and four-year college programs outside of their home state.
  • The WUE reduced tuition rate is not automatically awarded to all eligible candidates. Many institutions limit the number of new WUE awards each academic year, so apply early!
  • WICHE members include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
